right thermostat 60 hp 4stroke efi 2004

after working through overheat problems (it was the water tube grommet) now i see the thermostat needed for the motor is called a 120 does that mean it opens at 120F that would be 48.5C,the thermo i have which i tested opens at 60c is this correct for this motor or should i order the 120 themo cheers and thanks for reading

As we metric Canadians know, 60C is 140F. A 14586 thermostat (120F) should be opening within a few degrees of 120F. Replace it- your outboard will thank you.

hi bilge rat jim im in australia and metric here to,after futher investigation the 120f (49c) starts to open 48 to 51C and full open temp is(145f) 63c so the thermo is measured from the temp it 1st starts to open (120f) fully open (145) according to my manual cheers from down under jim
