Your motor is way to low! The cavitation plate must be even or slightly above the bottom of the boat. (use a straightedge front, to back, off the bottom to set it up) Also, where did you get that cockamamie hydrofoil??? It's way too big! That maybe your nain problem there  At least get a store bought Doel Fin the right size for your motor! if you care to use one.

I didn't get it anywhere, I inherited the whole thing as a package. My father in law put it on and ran it that way for years. The reason I started these posts was to solicit helpful information on how to get the boat set up right since I have no clue. Thank you for your contribution.

The Doel Fins come in different sizes, yours looks like one made for an I/O? Not your size outboard. I'm a rebel here, because I like the Doel Fins, for certain applications, your situation is one. Just get the right size, and make sure your Cav. plate is flush, or a little above the bottom of the boat, and as a starting point, put the trim rod in the hole that makes your Cav. plate paralell with the bottom as well, you can experiment with trim holes later, Do whatever you need to do to accomplish that. You should be fine then.

I checked - it is a Doel, but it is pretty big. Knowing the installer, he probably just bought what he found at a store.

The iBoat store is out of them if I did want to get another smaller one, I would need to look elsewhere.
