Ringfree shock treatment

I have twin 1997 Yamaha 200 SWS II carbed engines, with 200 hours each. Half of those hours were put on by me over the last 1.5 years. I have not decarbed the engines since I have owned them and I have to assume that the previous did not either. So, time to do it now.<br /><br />I am going to Yamaha Ringfree, but I don't know how much to use for the shock treatment. The instructions say 2 oz. / gallon and use 64 gallons per engine. Well, this is 256 oz. (8 quarts!) which is a couple of hundred dollars! If this is necessary, so be it. But, my Yamaha mechanic says I can get by with 10 gallons (I am assuming per engine).<br /><br />Comments?<br /><br />Rodbolt, are you out there?<br /><br />Thanks in advance...

I dont use this product, because I dont work on yamaha, but I would use the sea foam (cheaper) follow instruction on can. If you want a shock treatment use Evinrude engine tuner in spray can. Just for free ring free is an old american pruduct.

I usually mix the shock treatment in a remote 6 gallon tank and run the engines till the tank is done then hook the hull system back up with the tank mixed at 1 oz/10gal. or use the combustion chamber cleaner as per the instructions on the can. on twins you can do one engine at a time. you dont need 64 gallons of shock treatment

Thanks for the suggestions. I will use 10 gallons for shock. That is how much is in my aft tank.<br /><br />Later, I will use the Seafoam again. I have used it before.
