Hi everyone,

I have posted before I am looking for a bowrider and wanted to ask you guys another what do you think of the price question. Here is the boat. 94 Rinker captiva 170, 125 Merc outboard. Comes with trailer a couple of props and the normal paddles and things. Boat looks in good clean condition and motor does also. I offered 4k, he wants 5k and doesn't seem to want to come down. It is a older boat but always been inside and I do want a outboard. Anyway what do you guys think of boat/price. Oh freshwater always, in WI so can't drive till spring.

Thanks

Re: Rinker 170

I'd say it's all about condition condition condition.

If you only want to pay 4K and he wants 5K you either ante up or move to another boat.

I'd give him another month and take another run at him. If he still has it you're in a better position, if it's gone, such is life.

Happy hunting.

Your price is more in-line with the boat's value than his. Does sound like a nice boat/motor combo. A 17' should perform great with a 125.

Re: Rinker 170

Yeah 5k is about 500 over NADA but I think I am gonna offer him 5k with the agreement of a test drive and a good once over by a mechanic. I guess I am willing to spend a little more for what I want, I have heard only good things about rinker. What are some good ways to check for rot that being the other thing I am worried about?

If you can't run it until the spring, what's the rush to buy it now w/o a test mid-winter? General prices may climb a bit come warmer weather, but you'll take on less risk should you write the check.

Re: Rinker 170

I won't be paying for the boat till after it's driven and checked out. Just a written agreement and a little downpayment. Just waiting to hear back from the guy.
