Re: Rinker 280 EC 12v Fuse?
Silvertip
Thanks for the comments but not a fix...Im a new boater so pardon the dumb questions..Do I have a problem with the fuse or can I simple put a bigger one in?
Do NOT put a bigger fuse in as you can/will overheat the wires and cause a fire. What ST is saying is that the current draw is too much for the wire size. The fuse protects the wire.
What is the fuse rated for? 5 amps, 10 amps? Your coffee maker should be less than the rated fuse. Some coffee makers will tell you how many watts it is and not amps. The conversion is Amps = Watts / Volts. So, we know that you have 12v. So, if you have a 10 amp fuse/wiring, you are set at a maximum 120 watt coffee maker.
Also, do you have anything else plugged into it? Sometimes, other equipment is plugged into the accessory outlet for items like this.
Your only other option is to run a larger wire from the battery or terminal block and fuse it accordingly to the wire run length and expected current draw.
