Greetings all,
I am in the process of purchasing a bare hull, 1956 Lonestar aluminum boat (Probably and Admiral, 14-15 ft, dual cockpit) that I plan to restore-ish then go have fun with. I will get some pics posted as soon as I actually own the boat.
That said I am begining to attack my premiminary list of questions. I have tried to find an answer to this one by searching the forum but have yet to be sucessfull. I admit that I may not be going about it the right way but I am kinda stuck here. Can some body please throw me a bone? Direct answers would be great, links or directions to threads would be awsome as well.
Question 1:
Good for source for the proper rivets to use through the hull, and how to select the proper rivets.
Question 2:
Inexpesive rivet drive tool. It seems that it would be a pretty simple matter to modify a std air hammer punch for this job. especially considering the reletively small qty of rivets I expect to set. I know that some crafty fellow out there has crossed this bridge before, I would like to benefit from that experience and wisdom.
Question 3:
Good, general discussion on proper use and installation of rivets in aluminum boats.
I'm learning a lot here and I look forward to learning more. Great forum.
Really looking forward to sharing my resto with a thread.
Kindest Regards
