I am in the process of trying to get a RJE-18C running. Can someone please help me out with the wireing? I know that the large red one goes directly to the solenoid to energize the starter and the large black one is ground. There are 2 small wires. 1 looks as if it is going to an electronic choke solenoid. Is this a 6 or 12 volt solenoid in 1956? I can not figure out what the other one is for. It is going to the shaft that is hooked to the throttle control. Is there something missing that it hooks to? Thanks for the help.

The safety switch is missing. The way it is should work, just won't have the safety feature and it can start at wide open throttle.

Now about that solenoid. As it was designed, it was a 6 volt system. And the wiring diagram assumes it is still a 6 volt system, and using the correct solenoid. All bets are off if you are using something else.

Re: RJE-18C electrical

Where is the best place to get a safety switch and mount? How can I tell if the starter is a 6 or 12 volt? When I got the boat it had a 12 volt battery in it. Where would anyone suggest I get a 12 volt choke solenoid if the starter has been changed to 12 volt? If the starter has not been changed I would like to change it over to keep weight down and not have to have a 6 and a 12 volt battery to run accesories. Thanks
