Robalo Question

Hi
I have been looking at a 1976 robalo for me to buy and fix up. I went to look at it the other day and it seemed like it was in ok condition. The hull was structurally sound but was a cosmetic wreck. Then the guy told me that the hull was totally sealed and that really turned me away. I didn't think that they made boats totally sealed with no bilge. My question is is the hull really totally sealed and is an older boat like that too old to restore and be able to resell and not loose money.
thanks

Re: Robalo Question

You will never make money fixing and old boat

People do it because it gets them a boat they like or could not other wise afford to buy new

And when ther done they know they have a quality boat that will last them a long time

Re: Robalo Question

Well i would really like to just fix it up for myself but if i ever had to sell it i didn't want to have myself so far in i couldn't get out financially. does anyone know if this boat has a bilge because i can only imagine it must be really rotted?

Re: Robalo Question

BOAT is short for Break Out Another Thousand. when you buy a boat, you automatically write off entertainment/pleasure dollars.

Re: Robalo Question

The deck is probably completely sealed, but it will still have a bilge, accessible probably thru a hatch. The older robalos are nice boats, my dad had a 2665 center console cuddy back about 20 years ago with twin 200's. Did over 70mph according to the Loran-C one beautiful day back from the mud hole.
