Hey, you're the one asking for help here, and you're getting attention from one of the most knowledgeable folks on the board.

Granted he can be a bit cranky now and then, but you're getting free advice and complaining about it? If it were me I'd be ignoring further posts from you since you only seem to listen to what you want to hear.

Hey Man, calm down buckaroo, so am I catchin you right, Don is the only one on here that is allowed to be a smart-*****???? If you found my last post offensive, maybe you should climb back into bed with your mommy so she can protect you from all those meanies out there. Look man, I deal with criticism pretty well, I know that I am not as up to date on the current boat specs as these guys are, and I am just havin a little fun and being light hearted with them. If you look at MY last post, I called MYSELF retarded. Man, calm down and go take a vicoden for your anxiety attack bud!!!

Re: Rochester 2GV Carb Question

BY THE WAY, Thank you don and the others that helped me on this carb. By talking it out, I figured out that carbs are different, and those inserts actually MAY NOT be there. Per DONS suggestions in other posts, I am going to purchase a Mercruiser repair manual number three, for the correct action to take. I have also LEARNED that the instructions provided with Sierra parts list may actually not be correct for the motor application for the specific year. I do NOT listen to what I want to hear, I learn from the guys here. I am NOT MADE OF MONEY!!!! and I have a strong thirst for knowledge, so therefor I like to work through things instead of replacing things that dont need to be replaced. I do have the contact information for the website that the gentleman offered me earlier for the rebuilt carbs from Florida and have already checked into that website and I have their number on speed dial. I discovered through TALKING AND LISTENING on this forum that I MAY not have parts missing from my carb. So please, do not EVER tell me again that I listen to only what I want to hear, that could not be further from the truth. Again, thank you, as I say in every post that I put on this website, for everything that you do for me and all others, your knowledge is a tremendous asset to all of us who are in need of it. Thanks again!

Take it easy guys, don't go getting all excited and start calling each other names. I didn't intend to sound mad, and took no offense to anything said. I just don't use enough smiley faces I guess.
The sun is shining, and the boats in the water. Think I may go for a ride.

Re: Rochester 2GV Carb Question

Hey pigrg
I m on a tight budget too, I found if I went to an auto parts house they could get you some carb parts. I didn t mess with with any exterior parts but I could find some internal parts.

Rochester made carbs for a lot of applications, I m not saying you can get all you need but if you can get a counter person to work with you a little you can get some

The drwback to this though is you have to have a vehicle this carb was used on, or a very similar carb in my case I had them look up a '80 or so 350 gm with a two barrell.

Stay away from any main carb body parts upper main and lower housing that needs to stay marine but internal parts are the same.

Re: Rochester 2GV Carb Question

if yer into savin money. ya need to get them mercruiser service manuals. ya might as well get #4 too. it's for the drive. my take is ya need the mercruiser service manuals, and ya need to quit shoping at the auto store.... as for serria. fine, it's aftermarket parts...... someone recently posted about aftermarket parts. the way it was explained was they is reverse engineered..... copys.... get oem parts and ya'll be much happier, oem works proper and as designed by the oem...... i had trouble followin this thread because of terminology too.... not one part description ya've talked about shows up in the service manual that i can see.......

so therefor I like to work through things instead of replacing things that dont need to be replaced
that is a good statement there.... it seems to me that folks just jump into R&Rin parts.... it's not a good idea....diagnois the problem....

This is what I feel that the world and mechanics have lost, is the ability/desire to work with things, fine tune. I love finding out that the power vavle assembly works but manifold vacuum pulling against the spring and when manifold vacuum drops, throttle plates are open it allows power valve to drop and thus pushing down that little spring loaded thing in the bottom of the resevoir allowing more fuel to be dumped into the manifold. The knowledge that I have gained by rebuilding this carb is invaluable. I cannot tell how how much better off I am by doing this. In the end, I may put a new carb on there, but at least I will know exactly what is happening when I push on the throttle the next time, istead of just knowing hey gas is goin somewhere!!!! Thanks for all the help!!!
