Okay i have a 91 monterey with 5.7l engine id# 0d612561 alpha 1 gen 2 running a rochester quadra id# 17080561 with a mechanical fuel pump
I have replaced the needle and seat twice
i have replaced all gaskets and performed rebuild kit
I have replaced the float twice (now has brass float in it)
i have adjust float down to give greater pressure on needle seat to stop fuel from coming in and i think its holding because when i unbolt the fuel line it sprays out with pressure (engine stopped of course) and im still getting flooded out at start up you can watch fuel bubble up from the float chamber (the opening you can put a small screwdriver into to check and make sure the float is not sticking) fuel is overflooding into secondaries too and fuel is coming out of the accelerator pump shaft area...............i have checked to make sure the fuel pump is not sending fuel up the clear hose it isnt doing that so what else can be causing the flooding????? can some one please help?
okay i put the new sierra fuel pump in today and BINGO!!! no more carb flooding!!!! right now im letting her warm up at idle and then will do a shut down test to make sure she isnt flooding when hot and shut down! And to also see how she performs on a hot restart...
