Rochester Carb (17086107) Dumping Fuel

Have an gas issue with my '89 Bayliner 2.3L. Not only is it bogging on power up but (in idle) fuel is also fast dripping into the throttle chamber from the ventry ports. Research with YouTube and 'Mikes Carburetors' suggest it could either be a stuck open float or the spring loaded ball bearing in the ventry, but I digress. It has the non spring loaded float needle so perhaps I need to upgrade. Any thoughts would be appreciated, cheers.

Agree, and add, if it was doing fine up until this point, might just want to kit the carb

If it is a bit of dirt preventing the Inlet Valve from sealing. A few Gentle, and I mean Gentle, Taps with a light Hammer, with the engine running, near the Valve might dislodge it.

I can concur that the float level is very important. I just went through the issue.
There could be other issues as mentioned above.

You're spot on '88 Capri.' It was a float height issue, a very fine adjustment making all the difference! With all three issues (spark, carb and charging) now solved I needed to hear her growl like a sexy cat. Clearing the channel toward open water something was shaking; It was me. From pure excitement I couldn't wait to go to warp 9 and she did not disappoint. Friends on shore later said they didn't know which was louder, her scream or mine. Good times, cheers!
