i am looking to repower my boat with a used fich evinrude outboard and according to this web your the guy to ask. what year was fuel injector problem cleared up. i need to buy smartly and not look for trouble . in your opinion what's the best choice of outboards thanks v much!

The 2002 Evinrude FICHTs and later are build and improved upon by Bombardier and are very reliable. They run well and I see them on crabbers and commercial fishing boats with over 1000 hours without problems.<br /><br /><br />The problem FICHTS were the 1998-99 150 and 175 models. The FICHTs were redesigned in 2000 and called FICHT Ram and they were good motors, but the former OMC was in financial trouble and finally had a great engine, but it was too late to save the company.
