Re: Rogue Wave

Did you see how fast he got the engines restarted and the boat turned around after wave number two ? If he was unable to swing her around, I guarantee they would have been swamped and under water by wave number three.

I would like to see a video of him on the way in to the beach. What was he thinking? Was that other boat in video sea tow?

Actually I think that other boat is a LifeGuard rescue boat.

Re: Rogue Wave

This falls under the heading of "hindsight is 20/20" but from my surfing days I think I would have started the engine and hung out just riding over the white water until I could get out. He's lucky the guy did not get ejected and run over! Looked they had time to just idle in place a bit.

Holy C**AP! If that had happend to me when I was a new boater, I would have sold my boat and that would have been that! Would have needed about 10 stiff drinks after that if that was me! :p

Re: Rogue Wave

It looked to me that after the first wave the anchor went over catching the boat and turning it. The passenger untied it from the bow cleat and had to hang on for life from there. Defintely a stroy to tell the family when they got home (after cleaning their shorts, of course).

Thanks for the Coastal Outdoors link. Looks like a good spot for electronics information.

Of course there is the famous picture of George C. Scott on his 80-foot yacht "Mojo" leaving Morro Bay and getting his *** handed to him on a platter. Not a rogue wave but a wall of water all the same....

Re: Rogue Wave

This had to be from the infamous entrance to the infamous Columbia River in the Cold North West. Saw Coast Guard cutters specially designed for just this stretch of water completely roll over and recover.

I'll stay a landlubber. Grin

Mark

Was this really George's boat and was he at the helm or on board when this was taken? If so, did he have to clean his shorts when finished? Grin
