Roll Gunnel question? New to me boat

Just purchased a very used 2000 Sea Chaser 175 with a Yamaha 90. I knew the boat had some cosmetic issues and has been well used, but I have a couple of noob questions;

The roll gunnel lip has what appears to be rubber stiffeners underneath, 2 on each side. One near the bow and one about even with the console/seat. Can anyone tell me what these are for?

There is a factory hole on the front port side of the boat that goes through to the very forward storage compartment. Can anyone tell me what this is for? Seems like a water intrusion issue if not for some good purpose.

lastly, I found a crack on the underside of the roll gunnel lip, serious enough to make noise when moved real hard. It appears the boat had a fight with a dock or something. I am good at fiberglass and plan to repair it, but am wondering if in the mean time, will this crack sacrifice any structural integrity? I would love to get this thing on the water and ring it out a little before taking a grinder to it :)

All told, I knew I was buying a used, very well used boat and expected some issues. The cracked gunnel caught me off guard but will get fixed. The floor/hull is solid and motor runs great.

Sorry for the long winded post and questions. I am making the transition from Bass boat to CC and am new to these.

The 'hole' on the port side sounds like a anchor locker drain. The 'rubber stiffeners' and hole may have a better explanation when pictures arrive.

The gunnels on my boat are built the same as yours but without any "stiffeners underneath". I also found some repairs of dock rash on mine. My two cents about yours is maybe the PO used the "stiffeners underneath" to create a form for the new fiberglass repairs and left them in place after the repair was completed. FYI, I have considered adding something like that to mine in hopes of avoiding future damage. Good luck!

Thanks, the guy I purchased from said they were there when he bought it and thought maybe they were put there for hoisting in the water. either way they feel like hard rubber and I could probably use more!

The hoisting idea makes sense. It looks like some compression and strap marks in the pic.
