Hello,so I bought a 15'tri-hull and it came with a trailer that's quite shabby at best,I am a fabricator/welder so I am in the process of beefing it up but my ? Is about the rollers on a 15' tri-hull what is the ideal setup, also it looks like this is a tilting trailer,I have never launched a boat from one of these,is it ant different from a normal launch?

Thanks ez,the trailer looks homemade and it has a pair of 6 wheel roller bunks on the rear with what I guess you would call a flat single roller, and a single v- roller up front is that enough,if I could figure out how to upload my photos from my iPhone that would help

Sounds as though that trailer is in need of some help. 15.5' hull on trailer with roller bunks and only 2 keel rollers doesn't sound good. I would think there should be at least 4 keel rollers as those roller bunks are most likely only 4'-5' long. 5 keel rollers would be better.

A tilt trailer can be used the same as a straight trailer. The advantage come when having to launch or retrieve at a shallow ramp. Then it's just a mater of backing in far enough so the end of the trailer is wet. Then tilt the bed and winch it on. Which is also the reason for the number of keel rollers.

Ok thanks bondz,I just bought all new orange rollers and made some brackets to add a couple keel rollers,I thought it looked a little shady when I first got it....

If you're using it as a tilt trailer, get a pair of 4 or 5' long roller bunks. See Bass Pro Shops, Overtons, Boaters World. The boat will fly off the trailer (so keep the bow line or winch attached!). And they make it easy to winch the boat on, and they support the boat well. I replaced the wood bunks on my old Cobia (18 1/2') on Murray tilt trailer ('72 vintage), worked very well.

I guess with the little boats rollers are OK. You won't see anything but bunks on a high dollar boat. One reason is the weight of the outboards are not supported and eventually the boat will hook. Another is the boat is not really supported very well on rollers. But lightweight small boats I guess its not really an issue.

On the other hand look at any new quality bass boat and they are on bunks.

I'm no roller fan, but none of this is true.
