Bought a 1997 boat with a efi 5.7 from dealer. They replaced the block with roller cam version. Now I went through 2 distributor gears and I did some research and found that there are 2 kinds of gears for that motor and I need the one for roller cams. Am I correct here? Will the roller cam gear fit on the bottom of my factory distributor? Also can I just use a chevy automotive part for this? Thanks

That gear has NOT changed in 30 years. It already a roller in it. What's the issue with what they did?

Yes there are different gears for this. The chevy automotive one would be fine. Here's some info on it.

Here's the AC Delco Melonized one and Comp Cams has the composite one.
