We were out on Saturday and we manged to get the towrope wrapped in the prop and stalled the engine at idle speed. We got the rope out no problem. It didnt get wrapped in anwhere tight and just came right off. Goofy thing was that it started right back up just fine but it wouldnt take off when I put it in foward gear. It almost acted like it was stumbling or stuck in the stumble mode (forgot what that was called). It would go into reverse just fine. I tried a few more times and it worked just fine. Everything was normal for the rest of the day. Any ideas?
thanks,
Brett

You flooded the engine or didn't get all the rope off the prop. I dunno, I'm guessing.

Inspect the propeller really well, take it off to look at it. Re-install, if it doesn't do it anymore, no worries.

Yes all the rope came off. It didnt break or cut the rope at all. As I said it started up just fine it was just that it wouldnt go go forward, reverse was just fine. I did pull the prop when i got home, nothing out of the ordinary. weird.

Sounds to me like the ESA is engaged. Look at the Y bracket on the engine and see if it's pushing on one of the shift interrupt switches when you put it in gear,
Have you been having any other shift problems lately?

No, never had a shifting problem. It engaged and ran fine after 2-3 tries after the incident and has been fine since. I'm just puzzled why reverse wasnt doing the same thing

Maybe it was flooded out. Carb engines should be left to idle 2-3 minutes before shutting off after running hard.

It's running good?

Go enjoy the rest of the summer!
