Re: Rotate spare tire?
Thanks everyone for your replies. The reason I posted this question was I couldn't find the large envelope with all the docs and manuals that came with the trailer, but then this afternoon I found it under the folding shelf in the very rear of our 4Runner.
Anyway, the tires were made by Goodyear. The rig is still in storage, so I don't know the exact size, but I just found a trailer on the Shorelandr' website made for the model boat we have and the specs say its tires are ST215/75R14.
One information piece I found in the large envelope said to rotate the tires every 6,000 miles, but that literature looked like the same as you see with regular passenger car tires.
So, I think I'll rotate the tires every season. Like others have said, it seems a shame not to use the brand new spare. It will just be another task while checking everything else about the trailer (brakes, springs, bearings, loose bolts, wiring, straps, lights, etc, etc) this spring.
Also, per comments in this thread, I'm going to get a lock for that there spare!
Thanks again. --Ken
