Replacing floors/stringer

Replacing floors/stringer

Ripped out the floors on and old Glastron. Found out that inside the fiberglass of the middle stringer was all dust. Have no clue how to replace or repair. I was thinking of getting some would and using some construction adhesive to glue a new piece of wood inside the existing fiberglass class. I know its not the "right" way but looking for a cheap fix.

A cheap fix,a cracked hull and a sunken boat are what you'll get. Take a look on the restoration thread and you'll find its not that expensive to do it right.

Re: Rotted Transom?

when you put another peice of wood in the glass channel.....it will be very difficult to get a good bond to the old glass.

you can use pl construction adhesive and some bubble gum and paperclips....but are you willing to risk your familys lives on an extra 3 hrs work and 50 bux?

you get the idea :D

all you have to do is grind off the channel, add your new wood, and fiberglass over the wood....then lay down your new deck.

most of which you had to do any how. ;)

read the link in my signature for full instructions on how to do it correctly.

we will all be here to walk you thru it.
