hey all, i have a 1989 Sunray, express, 2.3l ford w/omc out drive. Good little family boat. put it in the water and she almost sunk, yes the plug was in, lol. so my question before i rip the drive off, is the bellows usually the leaking point, anything i should be aware of.

Without seeing any pics or knowing anything about the history of an '89 it's tough to say. Sure, it could be the bellows. Post some pics and you'll probably get some better help

How fast did it fill up with water? You need to pull the drive & inspect the u-joint bellows post haste. If it's torn you need to grease the u-joints & gimbal bearing before water damage occurs. If u raise the drive you may be able to find if the bellows is bad or not. But, to be safe I'd pull the drive.
