Rough idle, even after rebuilding carbs

I just rebuilt both carburetors on my 1998 115HP V4 Crossflow. The engine had a rough idle prior to my rebuilding them. After reinstalling them, the idle is worse now then before the rebuild. The engine starts, but it will not stay idling more than 15 to 20 seconds. Before the rebuild, the idle was rough, but the engine would idle indefinitely.

During the rebuild process, I did not adjust the linkage or anything. Could the float level be set improperly? Would an improperly set float likely cause this symptom?

Thanks!

Kent

Jade89,Lots of things can be happening on your motor.Maybe you botched the carb rebuild, but maybe that wasn't the problem to start with.do a spark test, with plugs in,compression test next, and get a fuel sample.
DHP

How did you set the floats Jade? The setting should be level with the float bowl gasket surface...just a shade high in front. Did you do a sync and link?

I'm really in agreement with DH...could be a miss firing cylinder. These can be a pain sometimes to locate. How did the shaker run before the problem cropped up?

Test the recirculation sytem check valves too. Manual should give you the procedure.
