rough idle problem on 1988 Evinrude 40 HP

Thanks to bubbakat I know the engine I'm about to work on is a 1988 Evinrude 40 HP. This thing runs smooth and strong at wide open throttle but lousy at idle or trolling speed. Is there a specific method to adjusting the carb or something else I could look for? I've got the manual on order, just thought I'd ask around here. Thanks.

Joe Reeves has an excellent thread on this subject. Do a search for carb adjustment and it should pop right up.
