Rough idle

I have a 1998 Johnson 200 HP ocean runner. When i'm slow trolling the motor don't run smooth. My radio in the radio box vibrates along with everything else in the console. What could be causing this problem. My wife says it sounds like the boat is getting ready to fall apart..

Could be several things.Here's a few to start with.Check the condition,brand, and gap of the sparkplugs.Always run the recommended champion plug listed for your engine.Perform a "link and synch" procedure of the carb linkage as it relates to the timing advance.Very critical ,and if out of adjustment will show itself at slow speed throttle positions.Also would be a good idea to run a compression test on all cylinders to insure their good health.That's a start.Let us know what you find.

I have installed new plugs and the gap is right. I forgot to mention that the engine runs perfect at 4000 rpm's and also at full throttle. The power head has less than 100 hours. I haven't checked the compression yet. I'll do that next. <br />thanks for the quick response.<br /><br />Barry
