I have a 2000 sea fox w/150 hp johnson. When first started it runs great. After traveling to fishing spot and fishing for awhile I start the motor and put into gear and during idle the motor spits and sputters and then dies. I have to go thru this a couple of times until finally I start the motor and quickly put it into gear and give it throttle. Then the motor runs great until I turn it off again. Could this be an idle adjustment or losing prime in fuel line? Please Help.

Re: rough idle

I checked the fuel filter and only found a few very small peices of dirt about the size of this period (.)

Re: rough idle

I am no expert but after rebuilding my carbs and reading this board it seems that 75% of idle problems come from clogged jets in the carb.

Re: rough idle

Theres a sticky at the top of the forum to read. Go ahead and get a service manual OEM is the best but Clymers aint bad.

The jets are in the carbs and are tiny holes that fuel passes through. The littlest thing can foul them up.

I am sure others who can explain it better will chime in. You probably need to rebuild the carbs. Do a search too. Wealth of information.
