Hi,
I cannot locate the serial number on the engine of my 4.3 litre/ LX thunderbolt ignition/ power steering alpha one petrol engine! There is however a transom serial number OC649870 and a drive unit number OC545197. I need to get a replacement water coolant pump and until I get the serial number I think i'm stuffed. Somone has suggested water pump number 18-3599 but how can i be sure?
Cheers in advance Bob

Hi Bob in the UK,

The leg serial number was enough for me to get to the engine for you. The water pump you're after is part number -17437. There have been the same since that engine started with Merc, it's the same are a small block chevvy, The 4.3 is a 350 with the back 2 cylinders lopped off. Pistons, rods, valves, cam followers, timing gear, water pump, thermostat and housing, push rods, flywheel, spark plugs; all the same! That makes finding non-genuine parts a whole lot easier. Just beware of non-marine!

There may be a serial number plate on the starboard side of your engine, just above the starter motor (I think). Or is that one gone too?

The number you have been given doesn't exist.

Oh, welcome to iBoats. :D

Chris...............

Alright guys!!! You get the idea, who cares WHICH 2 cylinders were removed!!! But it couldn't have been the front 2 because then the water pump, thermostat housing and all that gear would be missing. :D

Chris.............
