Hey guys, first time poster and new to the forum.

I have seen some of your comments mentioning seafoam, so I contacted a seafoam sales person about its use. I would like your opinion on whether I should seafoam as a regular additive to keep the carburetor and the cylinders clean. Also if you would validate the information about seafoam that the sales representative is giving. (Sorry I tend to trust people have worked on motors and mechanic more than just a sales representative.) This was the information provided.

"Sea Foam was originally invented to use in outboard motors back in 1942.Sea Foam is a pure petroleum blend with no chemical additives and is safe for all 2 and 4 cycle engines.I will attach some tech bulletins on using Sea Foam in fuel and oil."

"Sea Foam is not an oil substitute. If you per mix your fuel with oil then you should add 2 ounces of Sea Foam to your fuel-oil mixture. If you have oil injection then just add One ounce of Sea Foam to your fuel.Sea Foam ADDS UPPER CYLINDER LUBE BUT WILL NOT CAUSE ANY SPARK PLUG ISSUES,IN FACT WILL CLEAN SPARK PLUGS."

Any feed back from you guys would be great. Thanks in advance!!:)

NEVER believe a snake oil peddler.....

My personal belief is if you burn lots of fuel it's not necessary. Stabil is better for long periods of storage.

I've read about pouring seafoam directly into the cylinders and letting it sit for a day or so for decarb. Haven't tried it though, any thoughts?

First, I would recommend PIR-G instead of Sta-bil. More costly, but having used both quite a bit, I can say that PIR-G is used in everything I own that has a spark plug. I dont have rough idle issues with anything it's in, and they all start right up. Cars, trucks, 4 cycle 52" mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, outboard motors.
Secondly, I have used Seafoam in my SUV with 115000 miles, and my mower. Both smoked like crazy upon restart, but really did smooth out because I used Seafoam as directed.

Seafoam works very well. For decarbing or as a fuel additive.

Every time i've tried to fix something that seafoam professes to cure, I've come away a happy customer. The list includes:

- Decarbonizing
- Carb cleaning
- Fuel stabilizing
- Cleaning sticky hydraulic lifters

So far, they're batting 100%
