Engine (1997 112hp) cranks with no problem, but the RPMs are setting at 8500-9000. The engine sounds like it is idling normal. After running for awhile in water, the RPMs drop back to normal. Mr D
Welcome to iboats.

I assume you mean 850 to 900.

Check your throttle cable adjustment to make sure it's bringing the motor all the way back down to idle. Sounds to me like it isn't.
I hope it is a bad Tach. I hate to just keep buying until I get it right.
I will have to get back with information later on this evening. work till 3:00.
Got the info from Tach...it is a stock no name. The numbers run from 0-8. I guessed 9000 because the red indicator goes past the 8. At the bottom of the Tach it says RPM x1000. That's all I have and I will check the stator and the throttle cable. I'll buy a Tach this weekend. I'll let you know! Thanks
