Re: rpm question

What size boat are you running to only be using a 17 & 19 pitch?

Re: rpm question

they both hit low 40s but at 4000 the 19 does 31 and the 17 does like 27?

Re: rpm question

you can't have it both ways. The engine should be propped so it reaches the upper end of the manufacturers rpm band at wide open throttle. The 17P does that. The prop on a boat is the transmission but it has just one gear. If you change props you change speeds. That's why you have a throttle -- if you like 31, run at 31 and RPM will be what they are. If the boat is more comfy at 27, run at 27. Lugging a two stroke is not good for it so do not over prop it (too much pitch).
