1997 mercruser 350ci alpha. From idle (650rpm)to gear I get no drop in rpm so she klunks when it`s geard. When I put it back to nutural she drops 300-400rpm then returns to 650 rpm.shouldnt it be the other way around???. Is this called an inturupt switch?Could it be wired backwards? Thanks, Fred

Re: RPM`S wont drop when shifting.

Your system is working correctly.
The reason for the shift interrupt switch is to cuse the engine to miss in order to relieve the pressure on the reverse cut clutch dog so it will come out of gear.
It does not work when going into gear.
