Re: RPM too high at WOT

I forgot to ask, do you think the location of anti-vent. plate is OK at about 1/4" below bot. of keel?
Of course, there really isn't much one can do about that on an I/O, without major reconstruction, which wouldn't be worth it for this old a boat, right?

Fast... Looks like you're stuck with the A/V height, but you should still be able to achieve your goal. Have your timing checked and you'll soon learn if it is advancing fully.

HEY thanks topglock, I'll have someone help me with that at my destination.
And as a little side note, you and I have the same number of posts (29), before this one...
I'm only saying...

Well its one of two things your tach or your prop.....There is no 3.0 made that could turn a 19p prop on a 17' glass boat to 5400 rpm...Unless it was in netural...Ok take a grease pen mark your prop to the mounting nut take a spin...If the line no longer lines up. after a litttle run on the water.. spun hub....Or your digital tach is a confirmed liar....

Hey Tail, you missed some of the posts, we have concluded that the multi-meter used as a tach was erroneous. Have new Tach installed that is indicating 3900 to 4000 rpm at WOT. so that problem is solved, now I'm trying to get up to say 4200 to 4600 rpm. See latest posts, but thanks for your interest anyways. More later, U3

I really feel the 19 should get you there (within correct range).
See how you can make out with the motor.Throttle, timing etc.

Thanks for reply SS, I think you are correct, and I have a brand new 19"p. prop waiting for me at my destination in MO. I'm just about to take off for my cross country trip from CA to MO/ARK, but I've been holding off a couple of days on account of all the Tornado activity in Texas and Oklahoma, since that is where I have to pass thru. A soon as I get there and have a chance to test further, I'll report back to you. Thanks again for all the good advice. U3
