What's the deal with rub-rails costing so much......granted I know it's something for a boat(so its gonna be high). I have been searchin all winter and can't find one that is a decent price. I have a 19.5ft runabout and I want to replace the whole thing. If any knows of a place where I can get a rubrail for a decent cost I would appreciate it, or I guess I am just gonna have to suck it up and pay what I have been finding!

Re: Rub Rails

I hear ya. I put self sticking automotive body side molding I bought at a flea market on an old boat of mine, what can I say it worked and looked good. I retired it after five years of use and it was still in tact. I try to find alternatives before I spend money on specialty items. The prices usually start at about $110.00 for the real deal at places like surplusunlimited, if it’s for marine use get your wallet ready.

:D I have just gone thourgh that B word my self, one good example is tempo enging paint.Went to a natioanl chain saw the paint made a purchase for 11.95 then two weeks later went a to large independent and found the same dam can for 6.95........i wont be back to that large chain.

Anyway's after perhaps 3 or 4 days of googling i have found that one mfg simply dominates the market. After looking close @ there entire product i found that narrowing it down to a few differnt types that is product ID numbers i was able to find the right height and width and saved almost 75.00. And in retrospect the complete 50' roll may have cost $5.00 to extrude.

But hey for the "LUV OF BOAT'S" what ya gonna do?.........Shop till ya drop i guess... ;) ........... And they thought it was a women's sport only....... :D ...... ;)
