Ok, 1972 rude V-4 85 HP. MOD# - 85293R SER# - J04078. I do have the service manual for it, however it’s not showing me what I need to know. This has two carbs and a baffle to cover the carbs. On the baffle it has 4 rubber plugs with arrows that says low speed adjustments. Are these in fact the mixture adjustments? According to the book it’s not. It shows the high and low on the sides of the carbs. The screws in the front on the carbs seem to just be a plug of sort. First time on this engine.

The 1972 Evinrude 85hp has brass fixed slow and high speed jets (non adjustable). The face plate with those rubber plugs are simply a carry over from a eariler model.

Personally, if I had a "rude" carburetor, I'd smack it silly!

Lifes great I have a rude in those early years and kept having trouble with the t&t so I ordered me one of the above mentioned CMC TILT & TRIM PT 130 and got it from iboats That thing is simple to hook up and wires are already wired so all you do is run control switch to front.
great aftermarket product
