Rule 1500 bilge pump

Ok here's the thing I have this rule 1500 automatic pump in the aft bilge and it works as it suppose to witch means it cycles on every 2 1/2 min. to check for water it runs for 1 sec. then turns of and then back on in 2 1/2 min. and so on you get the point. This is the most annoying thing that I have come across in a long time, thought I could get use to it, NOPE. Did a little overnight adventure the other day and found out there is no sleeping with that set up. Every 2 1/2 min. my eyes popped open wondering why the pump was running. So my question is I'm thinking of converting it to a good old float switch any one got any compelling reasons this can't or shouldn't be done?

Do it, no downside.
You might have to make some wiring adjustments if you want to control the manual/auto function or you could just wire the auto side to the battery and use an off/on switch to control it manually.

I despise them myself. They do drain batteries over time if the rig is not plugged Into shore power/charger and not used for awhile.

All I use is a separate float switch from the pump with a manual switch on the helm panel.

Yea that's my goal, switch at the helm for manual use and basic float switch with strait batt. power for any other occasions that might happen(3 days to the start of hurricane season) thanks everyone

This is how I set mine up, the float switch upstream from the pump. I'm sure something similar could be done in a glass boat too.

Thanks, no problem wiring it up just wanted to make sure it wouldn't bother anything eliminating the auto side of the punp
