I don't think the left has a clue what "stay the course" means.

Mr. Kopec,

Why don't you take a deep breath, and reread. I 'm pretty sure change is what you've been clamoring for. Or is it that your real issues are with who delivers a message, not what the message is . . . Hmmmmmmm.

These things are much simpler if you figure out what it is you care about first ;)

So enlighten us, JB.

Tell us what it means.

To me it means continue on with the same failed tactics.

As opposed to "adapt to win" which I'm guessing means come up with variations of the old tactics which are also doomed to fail.

The only way to win "from a US perspective" is for Maliki to take on and eliminate Al Sadr and his militia, who is being funded and equipped by Iran.

Maliki is not dumb, and he knows that at some point in time, sooner or later, the US is going to leave. Neither Sadr (or someone like him) nor Iran is going anywhere.
Since the political tradition over there for centuries is that in political squabbles, losers get slaughtered, it's not a wild shock he would align himself with what he would have to percieve as the winning side.

It's the same reason that it's folly to think we can somehow train the Iraqi army and police and they can take over and maintain order. They don't want to be on the losing side, either, with all the ramifications of that.

But other than these little inconveniences, staying the course might well be just the ticket!

Yeah, Techno. Pretty broad. Sorry if that includes someone who is left and understands that a course is focused on a destination, or goal, not on strategy or tactics.

Staying a course includes adjustments in strategy and tactics to deal with unanticipated influences.

Re: Rummy & Dummy .....REVISITED

Truthfully i for was not in favor of the iraq conflict, yet after seeing the depth and scope of terrorism, along with the lack of support from old allies (France & Germany & Spain) fearing retaliation from such a disgusting part of humanity i cannot see why or how we could not pursue it to it's end.

In the end we will stay the course, but a cost which might stagger today's conventional wisdom.

I would like to think that reason would rule the day, but i fear it is not reason that guide's terrorism, just blind fanatism, being driven by both religous leaders and despot's.

My greatest concern is this whole endeavor will only futher emboldem them to strike a even greater tradgety on this country, and in turn cause devastating result's for entire world.

I am all for fighting terrorism. I think we should have been doing that seriously all along.

When I hear we are moving 4000 troops from Anbar province into Bahgdad, virtually ceding that territory to the Sunni insurgents, and foreign fighters and Alqaida types which is where they are primarily located, I have to wonder what the heck we are doing, anyway, and who the heck we are fighting.

In order to "stay the course" you sort of have to have a course to begin with.

Re: Rummy & Dummy .....REVISITED

First the reich bit off more than they could chew for reasons we may never know for sure. It sure was not for what we were told (wmd). Then failed the troops by sending in inadequate numbers with insufficient equipment. Then started making up reasons to be there and reasons to stay.

Bottom line cluster ...... by the W administration. Result loss of respect by the world of the US as world leader and super power. Loss of trust of our allies and loss of fear from our enemies.

Reich solution: Blame it on the left and the people of this country for sending a signal last month.

Time for the USA to get control of the ignorance in the administration and get us on a course back.

How? Start by

BRINGING HOME OUR TROOPS

"Staying a course includes adjustments in strategy and tactics to deal with unanticipated influences."

Very true, very accurate. Now maybe we will actually see some of that in practice. Anyone should be able to see that the interpretation of "Stay the course" has been "Do the same ol' thing and lets just hope it works".

I don't believe the Republican's have any idea either since "staying the course" involves keeping the one who's leaving.....and military defeat.

Ya know txs, you are a broken, 78 RPM, record.

Skinny,

What's "keeping the one who's leaving"? Why would anyone, Rep or Dem, plan on defeat?
