rodbolt, who said that this has been run perfect? I for one never did, but it doesn't mean that has been a total botch job either.

I don't think any war has been run perfectly. Can you name one that has? I think not.

With a new sec of defense, who knows how things will go. Maybe big changes, maybe not. The final decisions are still not his, he is an advisor that takes his orders from the President.

As for the report, that's all it is. Once agian, it is only advice. Not some fix all in Iraq that some devine intervention gave them. I'm sure President Bush will use some of the advice, and not use some of it.

The Iraqis need to step up and take control of some of the problems. They need to talk to Iran and Syria, not us.

I am not saying it, because I still want it to work, and frankly to me "Stay the Course" means keep at it until it's done. Please don't take the simple shot at Stay the Course. It doesn't mean that I like how f'ed up that place is, or that I think everyhting has gone swimmingly. Of course it hasn't. But simply saying it's f'ed up and that Stay the Course is stupid is nothing. How does that help? And if you're not helping, you are hindering.

RF is right that we were really good through day 7. I wonder though if anybody could've had a plan that adressed what has happened since. I have said a thousand times, hind sight means nothing to me. Soooo, let's keep at it. Call it what you want, but leaving is definitely not a solution or an option. I still think we have the ability to have a positive impact on the Middle East. Some will say we made it worse, I still think it needs(ed) a purge and that's what we are in the middle of . . .
