run for a few seconds and stops

hi can any body help me ? have open 1988 wellcraft motor mercruiser 3.7 L alpha 1 165 hp inboard vessel pleasure

every time i put some gas in carb to prime and work few seconds than stop

So it runs initially when primed, then dies?

Def a fuel system issue. Start from the carb and work towards the tank.
Have you checked/replaced the fuel filter?
Checked the fuel pump for output?
Is the fuel line in good condition and clear of obstructions?
Are the fuel tank vent and check valve in working condition?
