Just had somthing strange happen....
Was docking with a bunch of people on the boat in low tide, when reversing into the slip it was like it wouldn't turn and I heard some noise coming from the drive. I kicked up a lot of mud, didn't realize till I looked around. Once tied up I bumped it into foward and reverse and gave it some throttle.......everything was fine

Could the think mud cause the noise? I always trim up don't know what I was thinking

Gentlemen, thank you for your responses. Bt Doctor, do you think that noise and thumping was mud in the impeller housing?

Naw, Jimmbo is more likely right,...

The raw water pump will just pump the mud through the system til it's too boogered up to move anymore mud any further into the system,....

Did you look at the prop once docked? If it is banged up, there's your answer. If it's stainless, look close.

Pulled her out today to inspect the prop....all good. Gave her a solid run fed and reverse. Everything was normal. Gonna chalk it up to somthing in the water!
Is there a way to test an impeller? Thought I read once that it can be done. It's an easy job to replace, was replaced last season. Didn't want to go thru draining the drive and all that mid season!

Alpha one gen 2 impellers should last 3 years. If you ran it today and it didn't overheat you should be fine.
