The diode will drop a very small amount of power going to the anchor light while operating with the running lights on. If you are "running" we can assume the engine is operating. That means the 12 volt bulb that is several feet in the air will be getting 13.3 volts of the charging systems output.. It will be seen about 1/2 mile before the bow lights.
