Again i am back for more insight into my motor (1984 35hp) that is really frustrating me. Here are the symptoms...

The motor is running on only one cylinder, the bottom one. I re-built the carb over a year ago, and it ran great up until the end of last fall and it started running on one cylinder. Well this spring before taking it out on Lake Michigan, i pulled the carb and opened it up and sprayed it out with a solvent spray and put it all back together. Well it ran great for about 10 days of solid fishing before it started acting up again, so i pulled the carb and did the same thing, and it worked great for only a day this time before going back to one cylinder again this past weekend. I pulled the carb and sprayed again with a solvent but this time, didn't fix the problem.

This is my question. When i re-built the carb, i didn't replace the silver disc things that go on the carb, i wasn't aware at the time that you need to replace them, now i find out they cover the jets for high and low speed. Could this be what is causing my problem, that they are clogged up?

My other fear is this is something electrical, but i'm pretty certain it isn't because both plugs have great spark.

Thanks for the help!!!!

I think you've already answered your own question. See the sticky at the top of the board regarding carb cleaning. Follow it to the letter and your problems will most likely disappear. And yes, do remove the core plugs to clean those jets and too, use compressed air to blow through all passages. Don't put the carbs back on until you can see good light through ALL the passages.

You have two threads going. Read my comment about the carb in the other thread.

when it stops running on top cylinder are you checking for spark? If you are not getting any spark it will not run on that cylinder. I would also be looking at the electrical side.
