Running out of water?

72 OMC Stringer - There is a garden hose fitting on the gimble. And the drive suction screen inlet. Now, do you or can you just hook a hose to the fitting and run? What about the drive water pump? Or is there a certain "muff" to use on the OMC ? Not like the Merc. ear muffs. Is the hose attachment just to flush or? thanks, hope this makes sense.

Yes, you can run simply from the hose connection. The drive water pump will still have water to it. No need to use a muff.
