Running synthetic outboard 2-stroke ....

I just wanto clarify a couple of things ....

They say that I that race boats should use the synthetic outboard motor oil especially because we go WOT all the way and because it keep the octane in the fuel up all the way ....

how true is this?

One of the fellows my sons race with got a small sponsorship from one of the best known synthetic oil distributors, but after losing 4 upper main brg in a Mark 55 H in one season, something that never happen to him before he switched back to petroleum based oil and the problem went away, last I knew he toke the money, ran their stickers and ran regular oil.

thanx for the info guys .... so I should keep with regular 2-stroke? I do 74 mile runs at WOT at 7500rpm ..... just so you know .....

Check with Dhadley and his racing buddies. What do they use? I know in stock car racing (4 cycle auto) Mobil 1 sponsors a car and I recall seeing Nascar advertising on the front of Mobil 1 containers I have purchased.

If it's good enough for 4 cycles to race, why not 2 also?

Email Pennzoil and ask them. Since they sell both, maybe you can get an honest reply.

All oils are not the same as far as racing goes. I know that Amsoil sponsored racers use the Racing 2 cycle oil, nowhere near a TC-W3 oil. I understand that Alisyn is a very popular outboard racing oil.

It's no longer a well kept secret that some Nascar drivers are paid to advertise a particular brand ... but use another in the crankcase.
