just got my boat together last week. took it out on the river, and it ran great. except that it would not get over 110 degrees. or at least according to the gauge. changed to new sending unit, same problem. when i ground the wire, it pins the gauge over. 96 merc 4.3lx. i have two sending units, and neither worked. the parts store only had one sending unit in stock, so i figured it would be okay if i had the gauge and no alarm.
are these two the same part number? or there different ones for the gauge and the alarm? it's the one with 3/8 npt. the sierra catalogue only lists one.
how do i test the calibration of my gauge? other than putting the sending unit in hot water?
