Running vintage outboards in TX

TX requires titles on boat and motor. I am wondering if the oldies are ok to run without a risk of a ticket.
Has anybody had any problems running their vintage motors on Tx lakes without titles? I found this on the TXPWD site: Currently owned untitled outboard motors must be titled when transferred.

So if you already own the motor and don't have a title you are fine or is this not the case?

None of my outboards have titles. I have a Florida title for my boat, but it is registered (not titled) in TX also.

I believe there is a date that cuts off required titling to grandfathering outboards. Your county DMV office can tell you.

Here's the link:
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/faq/fishboat/boat/registration_and_titles/#faq8

The date was Jan 1, 1994. I came here in '92, so I didn't have to title anything. Haven't bought anything outside of garage sales since.
