I have a 1989 Johnson GT150 OB, I started it with muffs and no water comes out the top outlet hole.
Is it termastat controlled ? It was working the last time I had it out on the lake. This is the first time I have tried muffs.

Thanks
Dan

You should have a thermostat. Are you allowing your motor to heat up a bit to allow the thermostat to open and water time to fill the block?

You should get water out of the pee hole almost as soon as the motor starts. I hate testing the water pump with muffs. Turn up the water pressure on your hose some.

I did not let it run very long. Did not want to damage anything.

On the muffs or in the water and idling water will not flow out of the holes at the top rear of the mid section. While underway and with some speed water will flow out of these holes. Water should flow out of the pisser as Walker described.

Thanks to all, I took off the small hose from the base of the motor. I blew thru the hose, and it was somewhat clogged. I started the motor, and this time water came out as soon as the motor started.
