I have a 1978 chrysler 75 hp.
I took the boat to the lake lost my fuel tank it broke the female connector to the tank so i had a extra and but no connector. So i had a passenger to hold the fuel line to the broken connector on tye tank that was not lost. It rand for about amile and died. Now i cannot get it started. Carbs has been cleaned, its in time.
Itll start and then die instantly. Sometes it will backfire.
The fuel pump is pumping fuel to the carbs.
What could be the issue?

Try a very (note very) small amount of starting fluid in the carb.

My thought is you have a clogged jet
Either that or the motor lost compression
