hi, 1995 Evinrude 150 spitefire seires
I've had my boat for about 6 months now and never had any problems. i put some fuel stabalizer in my gas tank thinking i was helping the moter out. when i took it to the lake, I ideled at about 1000 rpms. Then i went up to 2500 rpms so that could plan out. As I past the 3000 rpms the moter died out. A guy at the boat ramp told me that the the stabalizer turned my Ethnaol GAS into water and that i had to dump all my gas out and blow air throw the gas lines. so i did, all the way to the the carbs'. It's steal doing the same thing. The guy that sold me the boat thinks it could be the fuel pump going out on me. Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!!

Try pumping the fuel bulb in the line as it begins to die...if it perks up, then your fuel pump is at issue. Is the tank properly vented?

If you've fresh fuel and vented, pumping the bulb doesn't help...then you're going to have to check compression numbers and spark quality. If you have even compression numbers in the 100s and a hot blue spark that will jump a 7/16 gap...then carbs are likely at issue...dirty and gummed up.

If pumping the bulb keeps it running a defective fuel pump is very likely, but first check that there are no leaks in the fuel line allowing air to enter. Look in particular at the fuel connector.

Check all the fuel line connections are good and have no air intrusion. Next check the output of the fuel pump.
Go from there

Re: runs great with the bulb being pump but not on its own

Thanks for responding. I have cheaked all the fuel hoses for air and tightend the screwrings at every import and export on each hose, all the way to the carbs. I blow 90 lbs of conpressed air through the hoses and blow all the exses gas out of the carbs.yesterday, befor starting the moter I pumped the bulb and gas went into the carbs (the bulb stays hard) and then started it. the moter stares right up and stays on. its when i put it in gear, it seems like the last of the gas that was pump in runs out and i have to pump somemore in. it was running fine last saterday. I put that DARN stabalizer in it and the problem started. thanks again for any help you can give that will have me back out there on the water where i belong. (how much am i looking at for a fuel pump? model# E150GLEIS)

Sure sounds like a weak fuel pump. If you have to pump the bulb to keep it going you are now doing the job of the fuel pump. Check the output or replace it. It does seem odd that it started as soon as you put the stabilizer in though. Usually it helps, not hinders.

Mine would idle all day when it started going. Faltered more as the RPM built up. Do an output test to make certain though.
