Hey guys im in need of some SERIOUS help! I have a 2000 Crownline 202BR with a Mercruiser 305 Alpha One Gen II and a Thunerbolt V ignition. My problem started off as a surge like someone turned the key off and on for a second then would be fine. Now it starts and runs as it wants to. The other day I was cruising around 43 mph when it just cut out and would'nt start back up for 20 minutes, then ran fine for 5 or 10 minutes. I went to pick it up the other day with some tools expecting to be stuck in the middle of the lake again and it wouldnt even start up for me. So I checked the coil and I have 12v at both sides and power at the red and white wire to the distributor sensor. I hooked up a test light to ground and tested the high tension lead and got no light while cranking. I got the boat home in the driveway and of course it fired right up (rotten SOB)
. so today I fired it up it ran for 30 minutes no problem I touched the oil pressure sending unit wire and it stalled out, connector was corroded so I replaced it and used die electric grease still would not start... Finally it started up so I started to test by unpluging things, oil pressure sending unit, oil pressure switch, oil pressure sensor and nothing shut it off. Hmm Weird. All ignition components were replaced last year coil, ignition sensor, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, ICM, and the ignition key switch. The safety switch has been bypassed. Less than 40 hours were put on the boat last year maybe 12 this year. BTW when the boat would'nt start today I put a in line spark tester on it and the spark was orange not blue. Weak spark but no fire..... Plugs are properly gapped and are the correct ones for this engine.
