Rust stain on upholstery/vinyl

I forgot that I had left a small tool box on the rear bench seat of our boat. Naturally, the upholstery is off-white. After some rain, I see that my boat cover needs a new waterproofing treatment. The cockpit of the boat got wet and moisture got between the tool box and the cushion. The result is a rectangular rust mark/stain.

Any suggestion on getting this out? I don't want to touch it until I know the right way to do it.

Thanks

A rust stain I had on white vinyl came right out with car wax.

Plain old "CLR" available at any hardware store and most local groceries. (CLR = Calcium, Line, Rust remover)

Yep, I used CLR on rust stains on the boat vinyl. Works real well. Use full strength on tough ones and let it sit for a while.

Plain old Vinegar from the kitchen. Put it on and let set for 10 to 15 minutes,
wipe it off with a cloth.
