I have a few stansions with some rust stains around them on the gelcoat. Everything on deck is stainless so I'm not sure where they originated but I want to clean 'em up. What's the best rust stain remover that you've tried.

look here

I use this stuff all the time. Spray it on and the rust disappears. If its heavy rust stains or in hardware edges a small brush (toothbrush) works wonders. Will also remove rust stains from around raw water cooled drive assemblies and hull stains. Just be carefull around galvanized steel.

I'm not one for fancy cleaners and that sort of thing but I have to say something about this...

I sprayed it on and did a couple things and when I came back... I could hardly beleive it. The rust was alomst completely gone! An old toothbrush took away what was left. These were pretty dark stains too. I'm all giggles now 'cause I can put my sandpaper and polish away. So the verdict is that 'rust stain remover' really does work.
Thanks guys :) .

Good deal magster
Didnt know you had a west marine there. That is the exact product I use because its cheaper than the starbrite brand and works just as well (same ingrediants). It will also remove yellow staining from the hull, and clean stainless. Be sure to put some wax on it now. That will help reduce the possibility of rust returning and make it easier to remove when it does.

The rust stain remover has the same ingrediants as On-Off Hull Cleaner but has a higher volumn of the active ingrediant so it works better. ;)

Toilet bowl cleaner? Let me guess, I just spent an extra $6.00 for nothing...
on second thought, I don't mind paying the extra because I don't want anyone to see me spraying toilet cleaner on my boat. Did you dry your boat with toilet paper? :D :D
