Re: S Clips for Docking

So I was at west marine looking for some bolts and I found the perfect solution. I couldn't find them on their website to link to them, but they are these small thick little clips. Not actually an S clip, one end is a full loop that you put the rope through, then the other side is a clip. So I can just leave them on my rope and any time I need them, snap it onto itself. And they were only $2.25. They must have been, by far, the cheapest item in the store.

Just adding another vote for the quick release knot. After a few times, you can do it faster than messing with any clips, and nothing else for the line to tangle wth.

Why not just a quick release hitch tied to the railing? Here's one I found through a quick google search. I'm sure there are plenty more that would work. In the video, the cleat is used as a rail, the left length would be the line running back to boat which is connected to cleat and the right length would be the loose/bitter end.

Quick Release knot

No one ever taught me that one...very cool, have to try it next time I'm out. Thanks for posting.

I went for my first boat ride tonight. My little clips worked perfectly. I'm still amazed at how cheap they were, at west marine of all places!
